Joseph W. Koenen received his B.S. and M.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 1978 and 1980 respectively and has served as a Farm Management/Agricultural Business Specialist with Missouri Extension for 37 plus years. He is headquartered in Unionville in the North Central part of Missouri. He has become well-known throughout the entire state for his expertise in the Fence Law and has delivered programs to thousands of persons in that subject. He has been published in Missouri Farm Bureau, Missouri Farmer Today, newspapers and media across the state and several other publications. He has taught several of these classes via ITV and Skype in the last few years. Joe has taught at over 40 locations in person and another 30 locations via ITV. He has numerous classes throughout his tenure, including Serving on Public Boards, Basic Farm Marketing, Annie’s Project I & II, Farm Leases, Landowner Liability Classes, Farm Estate Planning, Pre-Retirement Planning for Farm Couples, Agricultural Risk Management, Income Tax Management and NxLeveL Tilling the Soil.
He has also worked with farmers and insurance companies on damage assessments to crops damaged by livestock for over 10 years on a request by request basis.
Joe has received the Achievement and Distinguished Service Awards from the National Association of County Agricultural Agents (NACAA) as well as several other awards. Joe and his wife Susan have 2 sons and a daughter and 4 grandchildren with another on the way.
